Prysmian, as a leading company in cabling solutions, stands out not only for its
technological innovation but also for its strong commitment to sustainability, which
includes the well-being of all its employees.
Well-being at Prysmian is structured comprehensively and aligned with the principles
the company promotes globally.
Marcio Muchao, Vice President of Human Resources for Prysmian in Latin America, explains
that the company ensures all its well-being initiatives are in harmony with its
environmental and social goals, through global and regional committees dedicated to
sustainability.
“The regional well-being committee in Latin America, made up of representatives from all
countries in the region, works closely with human resources departments to
identify and meet the needs of employees. Annually, Prysmian conducts the
SPEAK UP survey: a key tool to assess the engagement and well-being of the
people who work with us. The results of this survey allow us to identify
areas for improvement and develop specific programs through focus groups and other
participatory dynamics,” explained Muchao
Concrete Actions for Well-being
Prysmian has implemented several concrete actions to improve the well-being of its
employees in Latin America. These initiatives range from improvements to basic facilities
to advanced health and safety programs.
“Among the most notable actions are the investments we made in cafeterias,
restrooms, and locker rooms, which are essential to ensuring an appropriate work environment. The company
has also significantly invested in the mental health and training of its
employees, promoting talks and training that address these critical areas.
Additionally, occupational safety is a priority, and improvements have been made to machinery and
the work environment to minimize risks and create a healthy environment,” commented
Muchao.
Similarly, Prysmian has established partnerships with gyms and launched
financial well-being initiatives, including programs in which employees can
purchase company shares at preferential prices, promoting robust
financial health.
Challenges and Strategies to Maintain Well-being at Prysmian
Despite the numerous initiatives and achievements in well-being, Prysmian constantly faces
challenges.
Muchao affirms: “One of the main challenges is staying close to employees and
understanding their individual needs. The company recognizes that well-being is subjective and
that needs vary among individuals. To address this challenge, Prysmian is
training its leaders to get closer to their teams and better understand
what they need to feel well.”
Additionally, all actions in the areas of inclusion and diversity are focus
areas, with specific efforts to integrate more women into the workforce and
ensure suitable facilities for them.
The Well-being Manifesto and Its Impact
Recently, Prysmian launched a well-being manifesto that aims to balance work and family life,
promote a safe and healthy work environment, and foster mental and physical health
programs. This manifesto emphasizes the importance of empathetic leadership committed
to the holistic development of employees.
“The Prysmian Manifesto focuses on four main areas: work-life
balance, workplace safety, mental and physical health, and empathetic leadership. These
pillars guide the company's policies and practices, ensuring that every employee can
pursue their professional aspirations in a supportive and secure environment,” said
Muchao.
This document solidifies Prysmian’s commitment to the
well-being of its employees, including all its policies and concrete actions. The
organization remains dedicated to creating an inclusive and healthy work environment.
Through empathetic leadership and alignment with sustainability principles,
Prysmian continues to be a reference in the sector, promoting a sustainable culture among
both employees and the broader community.
