The total contribution amounts to<br \/>\n$36,000<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ROSAC is a radio astronomy project: the science that studies celestial objects and<br \/>\nastrophysical phenomena through the measurement of radio waves. On Earth, there are radio<br \/>\ntelescopes that observe the Sun in frequencies ranging from MHz to GHz. These observations<br \/>\nprovide a deeper understanding of solar phenomena.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The ROSAC project \u2014registered under the Office of Research of the University of Costa Rica<br \/>\n\u2014 will enable astronomical observation of solar radio waves and the creation of a database<br \/>\nof data through 24-hour monitoring of the activity of the star. This data will be<br \/>\nused in scientific research both nationally and internationally.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\"Solar radio observatories are located at different longitudes around the world and have<br \/>\ninstrumentacio\u0301n para la espectroscopi\u0301a solar. Costa Rica se encuentra localizada a una longitud<br \/>\nat GMT -6 hours, where there are no such instruments that measure the Sun at the frequencies in<br \/>\nwhich we desire (100 and 1,000 MHz), so the development of this radio telescope will be a<br \/>\nsignificant element in our Central American region and in the network of radio observatories.<br \/>\nglobal,\" explained Dr. Carolina Salas Matamoros, a researcher at the Center for<br \/>\nSpace Research and a faculty member of the School of Physics at the University of Costa Rica.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ROSAC will position local researchers within an international group that will lead<br \/>\nhighly relevant observations at a global level. On the other hand, it will allow, for the first time,<br \/>\nto obtain unique local data for conducting research in areas such as civil aviation.<br \/>\nThe cables donated by Prysmian are of the EcoPlus THHN\/THWN-2 type (power) and cable.<br \/>\n96-fiber optical fiber (telecommunications). 'This is just a sample of our<br \/>\ncommitment to innovation and to connecting the world in a sustainable way in its<br \/>\nsocial, economic, and governance dimensions. ROSAC is an exemplary project in<br \/>\nCentral America that will contribute to improving the development of science in the short term. This<br \/>\ndonation demonstrates that we can deploy many of our capabilities in a single<br \/>\nproject, no matter how ambitious it is,\u201d commented Juancarlo Carrillo Belmonte, general manager of<br \/>\nPrysmian Central America and the Caribbean.<br \/>\nFunction of the cables for the implementation of ROSAC.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The optical fiber cable will be vital for the transfer of data obtained from the Sun and<br \/>\nto retrieve them in the servers. In this way, the responsible individuals will be able to provide them<br \/>\ntreatment and make them available to the national and international scientific community. Without optical fiber, this task would not be possible due to the volume of information and the real-time nature<br \/>\nof the data that is necessary for the study of space weather.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, since the ROSAC project is in the implementation stage of the<br \/>\npower supply, Prysmian provided the power cables. With the donation, ROSAC<br \/>\nwill have the appropriate installation to connect the receivers and equipment that will enable data collection<br \/>\nof data from the radio telescope.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Our contribution was not only focused on the product, but we will also provide guidance and the<br \/>\nsupport to ensure that it is installed in the proper way for its implementation\",<br \/>\nsaid Yamil Mora Porras, sales manager of Prysmian Central America and the Caribbean.<br \/>\nFor over 50 years, we have connected energy in Central America with Phelps Dodge, and now<br \/>\nwe also do it in the telecommunications sector, through specialized cables.
